The University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB) Conference & Hospitality Services team has organized an open house on September 12 for a brand new student apartment complex opening this fall. Read about the complex here.

Excitement is building as we count down to move-in weekend and the official opening of our new student apartment complex, San Joaquin Villages. The project also includes a new Portola Dining Commons and a market with local and sustainable food options.
Located on the western side of campus, San Joaquin will be home to approximately 1,000 3rd and 4th year students, and four faculty in residence who will advise residents, and provide opportunities for them to meet other faculty members. The addition of this apartment complex is part of the campus’ Long-Range Development Plan (LRDP), and will provide an additional housing option for the increasing number of students due to our planned enrollment growth.

In the UCSB Housing tradition, these apartments were designed with sustainability in mind. San Joaquin is a highly resource efficient building and will save water, energy and reduce greenhouse gases as it strives for LEED Platinum certification. It is our hope that these initiatives will have a positive impact on the environment and support UCSB on its way to becoming a sustainable community.
